Moxilin Vet: Broad-Spectrum Amoxicillin Antibiotic for Animal Health

Indications:

Moxilin Vet for animals is indicated for treating bacterial infections in the following species:

• Livestock (calves, buffalo calves): Pneumonia, foot rot, colibacillosis, septicemia, etc.
• Goats/Sheep: Pneumonia, mastitis, colibacillosis, foot rot, and other infections.
• Horses: Respiratory infections, enteritis, septicemia, uteritis, etc.
• Poultry: Fowl cholera, CRD, salmonellosis, pneumonia, etc.
• Dogs/Cats: Dermatitis, pneumonia, leptospirosis, urinary tract infections, etc.
• Fish: Fin rot, tail rot, dropsy, white/red spot disease, etc.

Pharmacology Of Moxilin Vet:

The active ingredient in Moxilin Vet for animals, Amoxicillin, is a broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, disrupting the peptidoglycan layer and resulting in cell death. This makes it effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Dosage & Administration:

Oral Bolus:

• Livestock: 1 bolus per 125 kg body weight, twice daily.
• Horses: 1 bolus per 25-40 kg body weight, thrice daily.
• Poultry: 1 bolus per 10 liters of drinking water, twice daily.
• Dogs/Cats: 10 mg/kg body weight, twice daily.
• Fish: 80 mg/kg body weight daily.

Injection (IM/IV/SC):

• Cattle, Sheep, Goat, Pig: 7 mg/kg body weight, once or twice daily for 3-5 days.
• Horses: 10 mg/kg body weight, once daily.
• Dogs/Cats: 7 mg/kg body weight, once daily.

Interaction For Moxilin Vet:

• Avoid combining Moxilin Vet for animals with bacteriostatic antibiotics like Chloramphenicol, Erythromycin, or Tetracycline, as these can reduce its effectiveness.
• Probenecid may prolong Amoxicillin’s action by reducing renal clearance.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to Amoxicillin, penicillins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics.
• It is not suitable for animals with severe kidney dysfunction without dose adjustments.
• Avoid use in animals with beta-lactamase-producing bacterial infections.

Side Effects:

This medicine is generally well-tolerated. Possible mild side effects include:

• Diarrhea
• Indigestion
• Skin rashes or mild allergic reactions
• In rare cases, changes in appetite or behavior
